These plugins will help you check how well your content is optimized for organic search. These tools have a free and paid plan. I use a free plan.

I believe it's worth exploring free options before upgrading WordPress.

As to SEO learning, I definitely suggest dedicating your time to understanding and practicing SEO. These skills will pay off in the future. I know it from my own experience since I've been doing SEO for the past four years.
